Been keeping up on a thread about paying for boot camps & phone consultations over in “The Lounge” of the Direct Method forums. To summarize, there is a lot of going back and forth about charging for such consultations being practical. Allow me to add my two cents:
The problem is with the guy taking the boot camp or phone consultation. These guys go in, expecting results, but are unwilling to change. For instance, I have a student who spent $3000 on someone else's boot camp before he came to me, and from what I understand, he wouldn’t even approach girls and do as he was told.

He just kept making excuses, and at the end, he blamed the guru for not changing him. Excuse me? No one can make you do the work. Before you take these boot camps, you have to be willing to face the reality of yourself. And if you’re too proud or scared to face that reality, then don’t take them.
Most of you guys already know what your problem is, but you attend these boot camps for the wrong reasons. You’re not expecting the guy to change you, you’re expecting him to change the women. And you do this while ignoring the real problem; that you can’t accept the reality of yourself.

Who’s fault is it if you refuse to look in the mirror and say “Hey, maybe I have terrible hygiene; maybe I need to learn how to stand up for myself; or maybe I need to work on my regular social skills.”?
It’s like going to a personal fitness trainer, and blaming him when you don’t lose weight because you refuse to admit that your diet is terrible. It’s not the exercises that are the problem. It’s something else inside of you that he wasn’t hired to fix.

Now would I pay a high price for a good trainer if I wasn't where I wanted to be in a given subject? Absolutely. You’re complaining about paying for boot camps and PERSONAL phone consultations, but how much money and frustration do you save if you actually accept the reality of yourself and stop trying to find ways around it?
They say that you can give a man a fish and feed him for one day, or you can teach him how to fish, and he can feed himself for life. You can fool yourself and eventually starve, or you can face the reality of starvation, and pay the price for knowledge, but the wisdom you gain in turn, is priceless.
